How to use this website
This directory of information and advice is growing every day, as we continue to link to other relevant sites and organisations within the county. This page contains more information on how to use the Your Circle website and to allow you to make the most of what is available.
If you are having a problem using the Your Circle website, or would like to give some feedback, please go to the Contact Us page.
In the Downloads section on the left-hand side of this page you can find detailed guides that explain how to use the Your Circle website and the features that are available.
- The User Guide lists what the Your Circle website is for as well as how to navigate the website and find the information you need. It also gives details on what to do if you need to talk to someone or would like to give feedback.
- The Provider Guide is designed for those add or update their information on the Your Circle website.

If you want to change the size or colour of the text on your screen, you can change the accessibility options. If English is not your preferred language, you can choose from a range of alternatives. If you are visually impaired, the website is also designed to be compatible with screen reader systems.
Changing accessibility options
Changing the word size or background colour can make the website easier to read. To do this, click on the accessibility button that is in the top right-hand corner of every page.
When on the accessability page:
- To change the size of the words on the website, click on the box to the right of the words “Choose text size” and choose the size you would like from the options available.
- To change the background colour and make the words easier to read, click on one of the options below "Choose a theme".
Once you have chosen the settings you want, click on the “Apply settings" button to make the change.
Change the language
If English is not your preferred language, you can change the language that the site appears in. Click on the “Select Language” button in the top right-hand corner of any page and choose a language from the options available.
The Home Page
On the homepage you will find 10 different categories, from ‘Travel and transport’ to ‘Health’, each covering a different subject. By clicking on the circle above each category, you can find out more information about that subject.
Exploring a category
Clicking on a circle for one of the 10 categories will take you to a separate page for that category. Here you will find a button on the right-hand side labelled “View all services in…”, click on this button to see a list of all the services and support available for that category.
Alternatively, there are buttons in the middle of your screen that list more categories that relate to the one already chosen. These are specific topics of interest and help you to narrow down your search.
If you click on one of these buttons, you will see a similar screen for that category. Again, you can click on the “View all services in…” button on the right-hand side of the screen to see a list of all the services and support available for that category.
Returning to the homepage
If you are searching the website and want to go back to the beginning, there is a button to do so on every page. Click on the picture of the house next to the word “home” in the top left-hand corner to return to the homepage.
Returning to a previous page
If you want to go back to a previous page, every page has a list of the pages that you have visited previously on the left-hand side. Click on the title of the page that you want to return to.
Returning to previous search results
If you are viewing a record or information and advice page and want to go back to your search results then you can use the “Back to results” page on the left-hand side of each of these.
There are a number of different ways that you can use to find the information you need from the website. You can use these methods either on their own or in combination to narrow down your results.
Searching by keyword
Typing a few words into the search box and then pressing the ”Search” button will show you all entries that contain at least one of the words you have entered.
You can also refine your search even more.
- Adding a plus sign (+) before a word will ensure that each of the results contains that word, which is helpful when searching for multiple words.
- Using double quotes (") around your search words only brings back results that contain those words as an exact phrase.
Please note that results for searches done in this way will be presented with those that best match the words you have entered at the top. Click on the “Sorted by: Best match” button and then select “Name” to display results alphabetically.
Searching by place name or postcode
- Search by postcode (e.g. GL1 2TG)
Entering a full postcode in the box marked “Place name or postcode”' will bring back results starting with those nearest to that postcode. This is useful for finding services located close to your home, or to places that you visit regularly.
- Search by part postcode (e.g. GL2)
Entering the first part of a postcode (such as GL2) in the box marked 'Location' will bring back a list of services and activities located in your postcode area.
- Search by area (e.g. Gloucester)
You can enter the name of a city or town and locations will appear in a drop down box for you to choose from. Searching this way will return services from that area.
Please note that results for searches done in this way will be presented with those that are closest to the location you have entered at the top. Click on the “Sorted by: Distance” button and then select “Name” to display results alphabetically.
If you know the name of a service, club, organisation or any other group, you can use the alphabetical search to find it straight away. At the bottom of every page you can find an alphabet; click on the first letter of the organisation or service that you are searching for.
If you find some information on a record that is incorrect, please let us know. It is very important to us to receive feedback so that we can continue to improve the Your Circle website. You can do this by going to the Contact Us page.
Please let us know if you cannot find what you are looking for or if you want to make a suggestion for new information that could be added to the site.
Use the boxes on the left-hand side of the Contact Us page to send an email to the Your Circle administrator. Emails sent will go to the Your Circle address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
To give feedback on a specific record, click on the “Is this information correct” button on the left-hand side of the service record page. This will create a drop-down box in which to give feedback. Feedback sent by this method will go the Your Circle address: email@example.com.
