Information and support for carers

A carer is an individual who provides unpaid help and support to look after someone that is unable to look after themselves. They may provide practical help, care, physical support or emotional support. Anyone can be a carer; they are a diverse group and have a range of caring situations.

Most carers do not choose to become a carer, but find themselves caring as a result of unexpected circumstances. Caring can impact a carer’s life significantly and many do not know that there is help available.

This section provides information and advice to carers about the support that is available to them.
